Alexander Bah is considered one of the most influential players in the history of Portuguese football, particularly during his time at Benfica. Born on September 21, 1955, Bah was a versatile midfielder who played for several clubs throughout his career, including Benfica, Sporting CP, and Atlético de Madrid.

Bah began his professional career with Benfica in 1976, where he quickly established himself as one of the team's key players. He played in all three matches of the 1980–81 UEFA Cup Winners' Cup final against AC Milan, scoring the only goal in the match to help Benfica win their first European title. Bah's performance in that game earned him the prestigious award of the Man of the Match.

Bah's talent and versatility were evident from an early age, as he started playing football in his hometown of Porto, where he was discovered by coach Jorge Valdivia. He went on to play for several clubs in Portugal before moving to Spain, where he spent most of his career with Atlético de Madrid.

During his time at Atlético de Madrid, Bah won several titles, including two La Liga championships and two UEFA Champions League titles. His performances were so impressive that he was named the best player of the tournament in the 1995–96 UEFA Champions League Final.

Bah retired from professional football in 2004 after a successful career, but his legacy lives on through the success of many young players who have followed in his footsteps. His contributions to the development of mid-fielders in Portuguese football cannot be overstated, and he remains one of the greatest players in the sport's history.
